Han Eun-seo is an actress born in 1994 who made her debut as a child actress in the 2008 KBS2 drama ‘The Great King Sejong.’ She subsequently appeared in several television dramas and has recently attracted renewed attention following reports that she completed doctoral coursework and is studying in London, United Kingdom, alongside her acting career.
Following news of her marriage to actor Yoon Jong-hoon, more people have been searching for answers to questions such as “Who is Han Eun-seo?”, “Which productions did she appear in previously?” and “What has she been doing recently?” Rather than focusing on the marriage announcement itself, this article examines her career and educational background.
Han Eun-seo Made Her Child Acting Debut in 2008 with ‘The Great King Sejong’
Born in 1994, Han Eun-seo began her acting career as a young performer in the 2008 KBS2 drama ‘The Great King Sejong.’ She subsequently expanded her career from child acting into adult roles.
Even early in her career, she was not an actress known for just one production.
She appeared in ‘Heading to the Ground,’ ‘Will It Snow for Christmas?,’ ‘High Kick: Revenge of the Short Legged’ and ‘Ghost,’ among other productions. She continued her career with ‘Golden Tower,’ ‘Return’ and ‘The Hymn of Death.’ Reports about an exclusive agency contract in 2018 also described her as a former child actress who debuted in ‘The Great King Sejong.’
In other words, she is not a newcomer whose name first became known through a marriage announcement. She is an actress who has worked in the industry for a considerable period, beginning in her 10s.
What Role Did She Play in ‘Return’?
The 2018 SBS drama ‘Return’ is one of Han Eun-seo's earlier productions that has recently attracted particular attention again.
Han Eun-seo played a victim connected to the central case, while Yoon Jong-hoon appeared as Seo Joon-hee. The two actors appeared in the same production in 2018.
However, appearing together in a drama should not be treated as equivalent to knowing exactly when their real-life romantic relationship began.
What can be confirmed from publicly available information is that the two became acquainted through ‘Return’ and subsequently dated for a long period. More specific details, such as precisely when they became a couple, have not been officially disclosed.
She Also Appeared in ‘The Hymn of Death’ and More Recent Dramas
Han Eun-seo's acting career did not end with ‘Return.’
In the 2018 SBS drama ‘The Hymn of Death,’ she played Han Ki-joo. At the time, Han Ki-joo was introduced as a character pursuing a career as a classical singer, like Yoon Sim-deok.
She has also been confirmed to have appeared in the more recent JTBC drama ‘Beyond the Bar.’ Therefore, even if she received relatively little public exposure for a period, it would be difficult to conclude that she had completely abandoned acting long ago.
She also has film credits. Publicly available filmographies list the film ‘Rang,’ among others. The personality database of Cine21 also categorizes Han Eun-seo as an actress and provides information about her film and television appearances.
Is It True That She Completed Doctoral Coursework Despite Being an Actress?
According to reports dated 2026-09-08, Han Eun-seo completed the coursework for a doctoral program in the Interdisciplinary Program in Arts at Sungkyunkwan University. Recent articles have specifically highlighted her completion of doctoral coursework, rather than merely mentioning an undergraduate degree.
It is important to distinguish between ‘completing doctoral coursework’ and ‘earning a doctoral degree.’
Generally, completing doctoral coursework means fulfilling the academic requirements established by a graduate school. This is separate from whether a doctoral degree has actually been awarded. Therefore, when citing public reports, it is more accurate to describe her as having ‘completed doctoral coursework’ rather than calling her a ‘PhD holder.’
Some older online profiles also mention her educational background in acting-related studies at Sungkyunkwan University. However, because educational information may change over time, it is safer to prioritize more recently verified reporting.
What Is She Currently Studying in London, United Kingdom?
Recent reports indicate that Han Eun-seo is studying abroad in London, United Kingdom, and is pursuing a program associated with the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama at the University of London.
There have also been reports that her stay in London became known through social media. For this reason, describing Han Eun-seo solely as an ‘actress’ does not fully reflect her publicly documented background. It is more accurate to recognize her as someone who has pursued both an acting career and academic studies.
However, there is no need to make definitive claims about details that have not been officially confirmed, such as her exact course of study or whether she has obtained a particular degree.
How Old Is Han Eun-seo, and What Is the Age Difference Between Her and Yoon Jong-hoon?
According to reports from 2026, Han Eun-seo was born in 1994, while Yoon Jong-hoon was born in 1984. The difference between their birth years is 10 years.
Media reports have also described Yoon Jong-hoon as 42 years old and Han Eun-seo as 32 years old, referring to them as having an ‘10-year age gap.’
In summary, describing Han Eun-seo simply as ‘Yoon Jong-hoon's bride-to-be’ does not adequately reflect her background.
She made her debut as a child actress in 2008 and appeared in productions including ‘Will It Snow for Christmas?,’ ‘Ghost,’ ‘Golden Tower,’ ‘Return’ and ‘The Hymn of Death.’ More recently, her television appearances, graduate studies and educational experience in the United Kingdom have also become known. Rather than someone who only emerged into the public eye following a marriage announcement, she is an actress whose long-standing career and academic background are now receiving renewed attention.
