Youth Future Savings Account 2 Application Completed? You're Not Done Yet… What Happens If You Don't Open an Account by November 27?
Even if you have completed your application for the 2 round of the Youth Future Savings Account, a savings account will not be opened automatically. After passing the eligibility screening, you must separately open an account between 2026-11-16 and 27. If you miss this period, you will not be able to open an account under the current 2 recruitment round.

Be particularly careful if you submitted your application in October and assumed that no further action would be necessary in November.
According to the Financial Services Commission, the enrollment process for the 2 round consists of three separate stages: application, eligibility screening, and account opening.
*Reference date: 2026-10-10 / Based on Financial Services Commission announcements September 30 and October 6*
1. Completing Your Application Is Not the Same as Completing Enrollment
Submitting an application for the Youth Future Savings Account does not immediately confirm enrollment. Applicants are screened for income, household eligibility, and other requirements. Those who qualify are notified of their eligibility and must then open an account themselves.

The schedule for the 2 recruitment round is as follows.
| Stage | Schedule |
|---|---|
| Enrollment application | October 7–16 |
| Eligibility screening | October 19–November 13 |
| Preliminary screening results announcement | October 30–November 2 (tentative) |
| Final results announcement | November 12–13 |
| Account opening | November 16–27 |
Applying for enrollment and opening an account are two different procedures.
For example, even if a young applicant who completed an application in October 12 passes the eligibility screening, they cannot begin making savings deposits under this recruitment round unless they open an account by November 27.
The screening schedule may also change slightly depending on the number of applicants and the progress of the review process.
2. What Happens If You Don't Open an Account by November 27?
The Financial Services Commission Has Stated That Accounts Cannot Be Opened After the Account-Opening Period for the 2 Recruitment Round Ends.

Therefore, passing the eligibility screening alone does not guarantee that your opportunity to enroll will remain available indefinitely.

It is important to distinguish among the following three situations.
| Situation | Outcome |
|---|---|
| Application completed, screening in progress | Must wait for screening results |
| Screening passed, account not yet opened | Must open an account by November 27 |
| Account not opened by November 27 | Account opening unavailable under the 2 recruitment round |
The key date here is the account-opening deadline.
Even if your application was successfully submitted during the application period, missing the account-opening window does not mean you can use that application to open an account whenever you wish later.
Can you apply again during the next recruitment round?
You will need to check a separate official announcement for the eligibility requirements and schedule of future recruitment rounds. In particular, recruitment in 2027 is expected to operate subject to the National Assembly's review of the government budget proposal and further adjustments to the program. Therefore, applicants in the current 2 round cannot assume that enrollment in the next round will be automatically guaranteed.

3. When Will Screening Results Be Announced, and Where Can You Check Them?
Final eligibility screening results for the 2 recruitment round are expected to be communicated individually between November 12 and 13.
This recruitment round also provides an opportunity to check preliminary screening results before the final results are released.
The schedule is as follows.
October 30–November 2: Preliminary screening results expected to be announced
November 2–5: Expected period for filing objections
November 12–13: Final screening results expected to be communicated individually
The preliminary screening results announcement and objection period are tentative.
Applicants should check the mobile app of the financial institution through which they applied, as well as any individual notifications they receive.
In particular, if you applied under the small or medium-sized enterprise employee category or the small business owner category, you should verify that your selected category matches the screening results.
You may also be asked to submit additional supporting documents if certain information cannot be verified electronically.
Preliminary screening results must be distinguished from final confirmation of enrollment eligibility. Even if the preliminary screening confirms your expected eligibility category, you must still check the final results announcement.
4. Do You Need to Open the Account Yourself Through the Bank App You Used to Apply?
Applicants who receive confirmation that they are eligible to enroll can open an account through the app of a financial institution offering the Youth Future Savings Account between November 16 and 27.

The procedure is as follows.
1. Open the app of the financial institution you used to apply for the Youth Future Savings Account.
2. Check your Youth Future Savings Account eligibility screening results.
3. If you have received confirmation of eligibility, go to the account-opening menu.
4. Review the product terms and conditions, applicable interest rates, and other enrollment requirements.
5. Complete the account-opening process and begin making deposits.
The specific screens and menu names may vary by financial institution.
The account-opening period runs from November 16 through 27, excluding Saturdays and Sundays.
Once your account has been opened, you can begin making deposits immediately. Regular deposits can generally also be made on weekends.
However, applicants switching from the Youth Leap Account must first complete a separate special early-termination procedure before they can make deposits.
5. Must You Immediately Deposit KRW 500,000 Every Month to Keep Your Enrollment Active?
The Youth Future Savings Account is a flexible savings product, not a fixed-installment savings plan that requires exactly the same deposit amount every month.
According to the Financial Services Commission, the permitted monthly deposit range is from a minimum of KRW 1,000 to a maximum of KRW 500,000.
The monthly amount of KRW 500,000 is the maximum deposit limit, not a mandatory contribution.
For example, depending on the amount deposited each month, your total personal contributions over 3 years will vary as follows.
| Monthly deposit | Total principal contributed over 36 months |
|---|---|
| KRW 100,000 | KRW 3,600,000 |
| KRW 200,000 | KRW 7,200,000 |
| KRW 300,000 | KRW 10,800,000 |
| KRW 500,000 | KRW 18,000,000 |
*Author's calculation: Monthly deposit × 36 months. Government contributions and interest are excluded.*
However, changes in your deposit amount will also affect government contributions and interest earnings.
The government contribution matching rate is 6% for the standard category and 12% for the preferential category. Account holders who are not eligible for government contributions may receive only the tax-exemption benefit.
Therefore, depositing less than KRW 500,000 per month should not be interpreted as automatically resulting in cancellation of enrollment. However, the amount received at maturity will vary depending on your actual contributions and the contribution period.
6. What If You Passed the Screening but Cannot Find the Account-Opening Menu?
First, check whether the account-opening period has begun.

Even if you completed your application in October, the account-opening stage has not yet begun if it is before November 16.
If the menu is still unavailable after November 16, you should check the following.
Whether you received final confirmation of enrollment eligibility
Whether you are using the app of the financial institution through which you applied
Whether you are within the permitted account-opening period and the financial institution's operating hours
Whether you have received any requests for additional verification or document submission
If you encounter an app error or have difficulty checking your enrollment status, you can contact the relevant financial institution's customer service center or the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency's Youth Finance Call Center at 1397.
If an error occurs just before the account-opening deadline, there may not be enough time to resolve it. Therefore, once you receive confirmation of eligibility, it is safer to open your account early in the designated period.
7. Applicants Who Applied in October Should Remember Two Important Dates
For applicants in the 2 recruitment round of the Youth Future Savings Account, the two key dates requiring action are October 16 and November 27.
October 16 is the enrollment application deadline, while November 27 is the final day on which applicants who have passed the screening must open their accounts.
Between these two dates, income screening, preliminary screening results announcements, and final results notifications take place.
Therefore, if you have already completed your application, your next steps are to check the final screening results between November 12 and 13, and, if you receive confirmation of eligibility, open your account between November 16 and 27.
Do not stop after checking the application completion screen. Make sure that your savings account has actually been opened.
